Mary Boyle attended a research event hosted by the Teaching Council – John Coolahan Research Support Framework

CASTeL member Mary Boyle attended a research event hosted by the Teaching Council on January 12th 2024 to celebrate recipients of the John Coolahan Research Support Framework.  Mary was a recipient of support through the Research Bursary Scheme. Mary’s research, which is supervised by Dr Cliona Murphy and Dr Therese Dooley, involves supporting a group of teachers to use Lesson Study as a learning pathway for the development of pedagogical content knowledge in primary science. Her study was selected for an award under the “Leading Learning” category.

At the start of the event recipients were invited to host informal discussions of their research projects, which were then captured by graphic illustrator Katherine Foyle. Michelle Keane, Chair of the Teaching Council formally welcomed all guests, and following a celebratory dinner Dr. Liam Guilfoyle, Senior Lecturer, Department of Education, University of Oxford, shared his insights on the importance of practitioners engaging in and with research.
