Dr Cliona Murphy & Dr Benjamin Mallon were awarded funding by the Irish Research Council for the ” The Climate, Our Oceans and Primary STEM Education: Climate and Ocean Literacy Newtork Ireland and Mauritius” Project.
This project aims to lay the foundations of a sustained collaborative journey between Dublin City University and Mauritius Institute of Education in the development and research of a continuous professional learning programme for teacher educators/educators using climate education and STEM education as a context. It will in the first instance depict the needs of the relevant stakeholders including teacher educators, teachers and curriculum developers on mainstreaming climate education in the teaching and learning practices at primary level by mobilising “contextual” expertise and capacity from both partner institutions.
