Dr Sinéad McNally, CASTeL member and Assistant Professor in Psychology (Birth to Six) at the DCU Institute of Education, was awarded a prestigious COALESCE grant from the Irish Research Council to lead a study on the educational experiences of autistic children in Ireland. COALESCE awards are made to interdisciplinary teams, led by a researcher from the AHSS disciplines (Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences), who show research excellence to address major societal issues. In a highly interdisciplinary collaboration with STEM co-PI, Dr Mary Rose Sweeney from the DCU School of Nursing, Psychotherapy and Community Health, and partnering with AsIAm, Sinéad will investigate inclusion from the perspective of autistic pupils and their families in primary and secondary schools, with the aim of informing policy and practices in inclusive education.
