My study responds to gaps in understanding how computational thinking can be systematically introduced, developed and embedded in primary education, particularly within integrated STEM frameworks. Over the course of my research, I aim to develop and refine a practical framework for progressively embedding computational thinking within STEM learning, moving from solving simple computational problems to customising computational tools for inquiry. Rooted in constructionist learning theory and a complex systems lens, my study aims to provide guidance for designing effective integrated STEM learning experiences in which computational thinking can be developed. Subsequently, these findings will contribute to the broader discourse surrounding embedding computational thinking and STEM into the Irish primary curriculum.
