|Name||Dr. Paul van Kampen|
||Dr. Paul van Kampen is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Physical Sciences at Dublin City University (DCU). He teaches physics and physics education. Paul’s science education research focuses on the development of research-led and research-validated inquiry-based educational materials for use at second and third level.
Most of his teaching is devoted to modules for pre-service science teachers with a strong PCK bent. Paul was awarded the DCU President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning in 2010, and the NAIRTL National Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2012. He chaired the Junior Cycle Science Development Group of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment in Ireland. He is involved in selection and training of the Irish teams for participation in the EUSO Olympiad and is the National Physics Leader for EUSO.
||Paul’s expertise lies primarily in the development of research-led and research-validated inquiry-based educational materials for use at third level. This entails both developing inquiry-based modules for pre-service and in-service teachers with a strong PCK flavor, and introductory physics labs aimed at general science students, and tutorial-based modules in electromagnetism, vector calculus, and differential equations in physics for physics students. He participated in the FP7 Pathway and FP7 SAILS projects.|
