Open Schools for Open Societies workshops available for teachers


Open Schooling is an engaging learning environment where students co-create inspiring projects that address societal grand challenges and empowers young people to make vital contributions to the community they live in. To find out more about Open Schooling and to see examples of inspriing student projects from across Europe , visit https://www.openschools.eu/

Workshops are suitable for both Primary and Secondary Science Teachers. Teachers are invited to register for any one of the three workshops offered in partnership with regional Education Centres.

22nd October   Dublin West Education Centre 7:00pm—9:00pm

15th November  Drumcondra Education Centre 7:15pm—9:15pm

22nd November  Kildare Education Centre 7:00pm—9:00pm

Participation in the workshops is free of charge but teachers must register online. Places are limited for 30 per workshop.

Workshops will provide teachers with the opportunity to
¨ Share and extend their science teaching ideas and practices.
¨ Collaborate to develop inquiry and open schooling activities.
¨ Learn about Open Schooling and how to implement it your school.
¨ Develop partnerships with relevant organisations (industries, civil society & research organisations, parents associations and universities).

The collaboration with irish schools participating in the OSOS project and the evaluation of the impact in schools across Europe is led by CASTeL and Celsius researchers at Dublin City University:

  • Dr. Eilish McLoughlin, Dr. James Lovatt, Dr. Ruth Chadwick, Dr. Theresa Tallon from CASTeL at at Dublin City University.
  • Dr. Padraig Murphy and Ms. Caitriona Mordan from Celsius, School of Communication at Dublin City University.
