Congratulations to CASTeL winners of two National Conference Ambassador Awards

CASTeL researchers were tonight recognised with two National Conference Ambassador Awards for their contribution to @Failte_Ireland for successfully bidding, winning & hosting international conferences in Ireland. Dr. Odilla Finlayson received the award on behalf of the ESERA 2017 conference organisers and Dr. Maurice O’Reilly received the Award on behalf of the CERME 10 Congress organisers.

During 2017, CASTeL led conferences welcomed 2,566 visitors to a trio of iternational conferences in STEM Education in Dublin in 2017.

  • Dr. Therese Dooleyand Dr. Maurice O’Reilly led the organization of CERME 10 – Tenth Congress of the European Society for Research in Mathematics Education, 1-5 February 2017 with 774 participants from 52 countries.
  • Dr. Eilish McLoughlin and Dr. Paul van Kampen led the organization of GIREP-ICPE-EPEC 2017 – International conference in Physics Education, 3-7 July 2017 with 270 delegates from 48 countries.
  • Dr. Eilish McLoughlin and Dr. Odilla Finlayson led the organization of ESERA – European Science Education Research Association – 2017 conference, 21-25 August 2017 and with 1522 delegates from 57 countries.

Chairman Michael Cawley recognised Conference Ambassadors to Christchurch Cathedral Dublin who had successfully bid, won & hosted international #conferences throughout the country, reminding the audience that ‘Business Tourism is worth €758m to the Irish economy and supports over 22,000 jobs’. For a small island, #Ireland shines on the global stage when it comes to its international reputation. With top international #conferences & high profile meetings taking place here every year.
